The Holy Father on Relativism

As a Christmas gift, I received a little book of snippets from the wise writings of Pope Benedict XVI.

I read this, and it stuck with me, probably because I work in an organization that is highly academic in nature, and academia is, overall, in a rather sad state.

"Today, a particularly insidious obstacle to the task of educating is the massive presence in our society and culture of that relativisim which, recognizing nothing as defnitive, leaves as the ultimate criterion only the self with its desires. And under the semblence of freedom it becomes a prison for each one, for it separates people from one another, locking each person into his own 'ego'."

How blessed we are to have a Pope who can say so much with so few words.

We love you, Pope Benedict XVI!

If anyone is curious, Adam is my nephew. One of the very few Catholics in the family.

If y'all give him a nudge, maybe he'll come over to DCF.

Come on over Adam. If you don't want to be around Dani there, we can always ban her.

What a great quote, Dani. Thanks for sharing.

And Adam, you are most welcomed over at DCF. Most of us don't bite.
